Inside Los Angeles Chargers Star Dalvin Tomlinson and Giselle Devot Tomlinson’s Million Dollar Lake Como Wedding Weekend

Some love stories begin with a grand gesture. Others begin with a glance across a crowded room. For Los Angeles Chargers defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson and his bride, Giselle Devot Tomlinson, theirs began in the hallways of a middle school in McDonough, Georgia and unfolded over nearly two decades into one of the most breathtaking wedding celebrations Lake Como has ever seen.

Long before NFL stadiums, luxury villas, and a destination wedding overlooking one of Italy’s most iconic landscapes, there were simply two 12 year olds whose lives became intertwined in a way neither could have imagined.

High School Sweethearts

In January 2006, Giselle had just relocated from New York to Georgia midway through her sixth grade year. As a new student at Henry County Middle School, she quickly caught the attention of a tall classmate who stood out among the crowd. Dalvin noticed Giselle almost immediately. Giselle, in turn, couldn’t help but notice the towering boy who seemed impossible to miss.

What followed was not a whirlwind romance, but something rarer: a friendship that steadily deepened over years spent growing up side by side.

Throughout middle school and high school, the two became inseparable. They shared the same friend group, attended each other’s sporting events, sat together during lunch, and walked between classes together. Some of their most cherished memories were also the simplest, including long conversations during walks across Dalvin’s family property, afternoons spent watching anime, spontaneous dates, and countless ordinary moments that would later become the foundation of an extraordinary relationship.

On May 10, 2012, during one of those familiar walks, Dalvin asked Giselle to be his girlfriend.

Neither of them knew it then, but they had already met the person they would spend the rest of their lives with.

A Love Strengthened Through Life’s Hardest Moments

For Giselle, her love for Dalvin was rooted long before they officially began dating.

“I fell in love with Dalvin’s heart,” she says. “As friends, I was able to witness his grace and resilience even during difficult times. He trusted me and allowed me to support him. I realized that for this kind soul who had entrusted me with his heart, I wanted to protect it, care for it, and love him fully.”

For Dalvin, one of the defining moments came during one of the most difficult chapters of his life.

After losing his mother, Melinda Tomlinson, he faced another devastating challenge less than a year later when an ACL injury required reconstructive surgery. As the school’s star athlete, the setback was both physically and emotionally difficult.

Through it all, Giselle remained by his side.

“She would come over with homework to make sure I didn’t fall behind,” Dalvin recalls. “She made sure I was doing extra rehab and taking daily walks with her around my family’s property. The care and support she showed me made my heart fall for her even more.”

Their relationship became defined by something deeper than romance alone: unwavering friendship, steadfast loyalty, and a commitment to supporting one another through every season of life.

A Rooftop Proposal Above New York City

By the summer of 2021, Dalvin knew it was time to ask the question he had envisioned for years.

Giselle, however, nearly uncovered the surprise.

In the days leading up to the proposal, she sensed Dalvin’s nerves. His suggestion that she should go get her nails done with a friend on the day of their date only heightened her suspicions.

“At one point, I outright asked him if he was proposing,” she laughs.

Dalvin denied everything.

Fortunately, his secret remained intact.

On July 16, 2021, beneath the glow of a perfect New York City summer evening at RH Rooftop Restaurant, Dalvin got down on one knee and asked Giselle to marry him.

Through tears of joy, she answered with an immediate and emphatic “Yes.”

The proposal marked the beginning of an engagement era that would last five unforgettable years and culminate in a wedding celebration unlike any other.

A Million Dollar Celebration on Lake Como

For their wedding weekend, the couple selected the incomparable beauty of Lake Como, Italy, a destination synonymous with timeless romance, old world glamour, and breathtaking natural scenery.

Every detail was meticulously curated to create an experience that felt both luxurious and deeply personal.

“We wanted the entire weekend to be about the experience,” Giselle explains. “Not just for us, but for our guests. This was a once in a lifetime event, and we wanted every moment to feel intentional, elegant, and unforgettable.”

The festivities unfolded across multiple days, each event carrying its own distinct identity while remaining connected through a cohesive design story.

Guests were welcomed with a vibrant celebration infused with the couple’s favorite colors, rich reds and regal purples, a subtle tribute to Dalvin and Giselle themselves. Personalized details appeared throughout the evening, from custom napkins featuring fun facts about the couple to guest gifts filled with customized M&M’s in their favorite shades.

The weekend continued with an intimate rehearsal brunch before culminating in an extraordinary wedding ceremony overlooking the shimmering waters of Lake Como.

A Ceremony in Full Bloom

The ceremony design appeared as though it had emerged directly from the landscape itself.

A lush floral aisle unfolded across the lawn in shades of blush, mauve, lavender, and soft plum. Guests were guided toward an architectural floral installation that framed the lake while allowing the surrounding mountains and water to remain the focal point.

As Giselle made her way down the aisle, every detail seemed suspended in time.

For Dalvin, it became the defining moment of the entire day.

“Standing at the altar surrounded by everyone we love and care about was incredible,” he says. “But the moment those doors opened and I saw Giselle walking toward me, I felt like the luckiest man on Earth.”

Moments after exchanging vows, the celebration delivered one of its most unforgettable visual spectacles. Custom smoke effects in shades of blush and lavender drifted into the sky behind the newlyweds, creating a cinematic scene against the dramatic backdrop of Lake Como’s mountains and sparkling waters.

An Ethereal Garden Reception

As evening fell, guests transitioned into a glass conservatory reception transformed into an enchanted garden.

Soft mauve drapery cascaded throughout the structure while crystal chandeliers, candlelight, and suspended floral installations created a dreamlike atmosphere. Garden roses, peonies, hydrangeas, and specialty blooms in layered shades of lavender, blush, plum, and mauve filled every corner of the space.

Mirrored surfaces reflected the candlelight and florals, creating depth and movement that made the reception feel almost otherworldly.

Food and hospitality remained central to the couple’s vision throughout the weekend.

Self described food lovers, Dalvin and Giselle curated menus that introduced guests to authentic Italian flavors while celebrating the communal nature of dining together.

“We believe food brings people together,” Giselle says. “We wanted guests to experience something new while also feeling connected through every meal.”

The Sweetest Moment of the Weekend

While the wedding was filled with countless unforgettable memories, one spontaneous moment became an instant favorite.

Immediately after Dalvin placed Giselle’s wedding band on her finger, she instinctively turned toward the crowd and lifted her left hand in excitement.

Without missing a beat, the guests erupted into cheers.

Laughing, Dalvin followed suit after receiving his own ring, raising his hand triumphantly as the crowd cheered once more.

“It was completely unplanned,” Giselle says. “But it became one of the sweetest moments of the entire day.”

A Legacy of Love

Beyond the breathtaking florals, luxury details, and spectacular Lake Como setting, the wedding ultimately celebrated something far more enduring: a relationship built on friendship, resilience, and nearly twenty years of shared memories.

Dalvin, an African American born and raised in McDonough, Georgia, and Giselle, an Afro Latina and proud daughter of immigrant parents from Haiti and El Salvador, brought together not only their families but the stories, traditions, and cultures that helped shape them.

As they begin this next chapter as husband and wife, their focus remains beautifully simple.

“I’m most excited about living our lives together and growing old together,” Giselle says. “I’m so happy to have found my forever.”

For Dalvin, the future is filled with endless possibility.

“I’m excited for all the memories we still get to create,” he says. “Traveling the world, experiencing different cultures, starting a family, and sharing the love we have for each other with future generations.”

From middle school hallways in Georgia to one of the world’s most celebrated wedding destinations, Dalvin and Giselle’s journey is proof that some love stories are written slowly, intentionally, and beautifully over time.

A love story decades in the making and one destined to last forever.
